My Anti-Aging Skincare Routine

I read an article recently that stated that our skin “age” is determined by three factors- heredity, environment and habits (such as water intake, smoking, and diet), and your skincare routine. We can’t do much about our heredity, but we can definitely make a change in our environment and how we care for our skin. I’ve had some sort of skincare routine since I was in middle school, starting with washing my face religiously at age 12, to using eye cream at age 16, and now, using a morning and nighttime skincare routine every single day (even when I’m so tired and just want to go to bed!). I also eat a mostly plant-based diet with very little dairy, I’ve never smoked, and I avoid the sun or wear sunscreen when I am outside. I’m very lucky to have two parents with good skin as well. My goal is to always have smooth, young looking skin, and if you are reading this, I assume you want the same (does anyone NOT want smooth, youthful skin??)!

Every person has different needs for their facial skin. For reference, my skin was oily when I was a teen, but has calmed down with age and now I have normal/combo skin, depending on the season. I can feel a little dry in my cheeks during colder months. I also have reactive redness, meaning that my facial skin turns red when there’s a change in temperature (especially when it gets very hot), when I exercise, or when I am angry or embarrassed. A facialist on my recent cruise told me it looked like I have a mild case of rosacea on my cheeks, but there are no bumps or irritation (so basically, I don’t think I have rosacea, I think my cheeks are just naturally pink!).

I’ve listed out my morning and nighttime skincare routines for you, with links to the products. Almost all of these products are safer for your skin (read: no toxic chemicals!), except for the Jurlique serum which is not 100% safe ingredients. This is the routine that has worked for me, and I highly recommend all of these products for most skin types. Feel free to reach out to me if you need recommendations for your skin!

MORNING:

  1. Cleanse with Beautycounter Charcoal Bar
  2. Apply Jurlique Herbal Recovery Serum to face and neck. Allow to absorb for a few minutes.
  3. Apply Beautycounter Countermatch Eye Rescue Cream under and around both eyes.
  4. Apply Dermelect Redness Rehab Rosacea Relief cream all over face.
  5. Apply CoQ10 DHC Neck Cream to neck and décolletage.
  6. Allow everything to absorb while I make my coffee! Don’t forget to add in a sunscreen or foundation with sun protection if you will be outside. I like the It Cosmetics CC cream with SPF 50.

NIGHT:

  1. Wash off makeup with Beautycounter Rejuvenating Facial Cleanser.
  2. Lately I’ve been ‘double cleansing’ and I feel like my anti-aging products absorb better when I do this. After the cleanser, I use Beautycounter Nourishing Cream Exfoliator.
  3. Every other night, I apply Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel and allow to absorb for at least 5 minutes.
  4. Apply Beautycounter Rejuvenating Eye Cream under and around my eyes.
  5. Mix 3-4 drops of either Beautycounter Facial Oil No. 1 -OR- Biossance Squaline & Vitamin C Rose Oil with DHC Extra Nighttime Moisture, and apply all over face.
  6. Apply CoQ10 DHC Neck Cream to neck and décolletage.

And there you go! My routine that has kept my skin clean, clear, and almost line-free, despite getting closer and closer to middle age! Do you have any products that you love? Share your favorites below!

    I definitely need to check out some of these products! I tried a Beautycounter lotion before and really liked it so I may need to try the other things! Thank you for this post!
